Would you like to help providing a safe space to Venezuelan children and Colombian returnees? AFS Colombia gives you the opportunity to get involved in a community development work while experiencing firsthand an intercultural exchange. You will be giving playful accompaniment to vulnerable children and learn how to promote social inclusion. The goal is to make children feel comfortable and safe through recreational and artistic activities, and contribute reducing the risks they are exposed to due to their vulnerable situation.

Spanish fluency is NOT required, with many of our participants new to the language. We would highly recommend that you add a Spanish course in order to maximise your experience and interaction with the local communities.

These projects are located in Cucuta. This is a town with warm climate.
The local AFS volunteers, your working colleagues and/or your host family are happy to help you to become active in the local community – e.g. by engaging in local sports activities or other leisure time activities. This will help you to meet people your age and, thus, find new friends and build your own network. Furthermore, it gives you the opportunity to integrate into Colombian culture, to learn the Spanish language and it gives you the chance to experience Colombian habits and traditions.
